Hide a spare key for car, house, boat or RV

This Locking Key Hideaway from GE Security holds your spare key in a rugged housing secured by a built-in re-settable combination lock. Even if a thief finds it, he won’t be able to access the key. Set the lock to any 3-digit combination, and then use the integrated high-powered magnet to attach to any steel surface. To attach it to plastic, wood, or other surfaces, just affix the included adhesive-backed steel plate to provide a mounting surface for the magnet. Or use the adjustable cable to attach to a chain link fence, shed door, etc. Both measure 3 1/4"l x 2 1/8"w x 3/4"d and are weather-resistant. Please specify magnet or cable.

Very Happy
Received about a month ago. Works really well so far. Like the magnet feature, ability to perfectly hold a key, and extra protection of combination lock.

Wonderful Device
Lots of uses for these inexpensive and very functional devices. I have 4 of them. Not expensive and works as promised for a great variety of uses.

Can you use this for your car key? If so, where would you put it on the outside of the car? Thank you

I would not recommend using this for any 'Smart' car key, where the car has a key proximity sensor to enable you to unlock or start the car. That is just asking for trouble from car thieves. If you do not have a 'Smart' car key; placing the key holder in the wheel well is not a good idea, due to a lot of vibration; as well as the first place thieves look for keys. If you have a metal bumper, you could tuck it up under there, again taking vibration into account. Basically, it would not be advisable to use the Magnetic Holder for your vehicle. Make a copy of your manual key (or 'Smart' key insert) and keep it in your wallet or purse.
